10 Apr Jeff (Country) Gillespie
Jeff Gillespie, “Country,” grew up running the rapids of the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River in the mountains of South Carolina. The beauty and magic of the Chattooga shaped his impressions of the natural world at a young age. He came to Alaska in 1995 seeking more river adventures, and drawn to the vast wilderness, has returned every summer since. Country began guiding for Arctic Treks in 2003. When he’s not trekking around the Arctic, Country guides on the Nenana River outside Denali National Park, enjoys fishing all over the state and is currently working on building a home in Cantwell, AK, with his wife, Molly. In the winter, he returns to his roots and home in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where he keeps busy with his sawmill and woodworking business.
